My car's remote key fob works less often is this related to my car battery? (4 อ่าน)

I'm noticing a strange pattern and I'm wondering if two problems might actually be connected. I have a 2017 Nissan Altima and over the past month, I've noticed that my remote key fob doesn't always work on the first try. I have to press the unlock button two or three times before the doors respond, sometimes from really close range. I changed the battery in the key fob itself last week, so that's not the problem. At the same time, I've noticed that my car's interior lights seem a little dimmer than they used to be when I open the door, and the dome light flickers slightly when I first get in. A friend suggested that these might be signs that my car's main battery is weak and not providing enough power to the receiver for the key fob. Is that possible? I always thought the key fob communicated directly with the car's computer, not that it needed battery power from the car to work. But maybe the receiver in the car needs a certain voltage to detect the signal from the fob? I've been learning about when your car battery is about to fail and I know that electrical oddities can show up before starting problems. The car still starts fine, no slow cranking, but the battery is about two and a half years old. Could a weak battery really affect the key fob range? What about other electrical things – my power seats seem to move slower than before too. Is that another sign? I don't want to replace my battery if it's still healthy, but I also don't want to get stranded somewhere because I ignored multiple warning signs. Is there a way to test if my battery is the cause of these small problems before it affects the starter? I have a friend with a multimeter – what voltage should I see when the car is off, and what does a weak battery look like on a meter? Also, if these are early signs, how much time do I usually have before the battery fails completely? I'm trying to plan my budget and schedule a replacement before I get stuck somewhere. Any advice from people who have noticed these same small electrical issues before their battery died would be really helpful. Please share what you experienced and what fixed it.
