Hey everyone, I was reading an article on an online news magazine the other day and noticed a small widget on the side that showed the avatars of a few other people who were actively viewing the same page. It was a little surreal, like a quiet reading room where you suddenly see the other people there with you.



I did a little digging and found this site that seems to explain the technology behind it. It’s pretty interesting to think about how websites can create this sense of shared, real-time presence.



Has anyone else come across this feature? What do you think about it? Cool and communal, or a little creepy on a news site?
